1986 - 1988   Worked at the User's Manuals Production and Localization agency of Japan Victor Company.

1984 - 1985   Pro trainee at the Nihon Kiin, Japan National Go Organization for Pros

1982 - 1991   Studied Japanese at various schools including Waseda and Leiden University
1982              Went to Japan to pursue my passion: The Game of Go.

1980  -1982   Theoretical Physics at the University of Amsterdam

1981              Dutch and European Champion in Go at the age of 19 

1978              My first paid job was as a Gardener and a Private Tutor, teaching science to other students, at the age of 16.

I have played the Game of Go since I was 8 years old. My father taught me the rules and I beat him in our first game. Wow! A child never forgets that...

Maybe because of that strong emotion, I became the youngest European Champion ever.

I have written over 400 newspaper articles (published in Daily Yomiuri nation-wide Newspaper), over 100 magazine  articles, and over 10 books on Go. I also teach Go online and in workshops.
