Innovation Never Sleeps

Wanna Experience Speed?

The French multi-hull, Hydroptere, has broken the multiple records and now has recorded an incredible speed of some 51 knots (is about 95 km/hour).

Faster and Faster

In the original title (above), we reported 51 knots. Last time we ckecked, the Alain Thebault, the boat's skipper reported this same multi-hull (trimaran, actually) set another new world record with a speed of 56 knots, about 65 m/h or 105 km/h.

Flying Rather than Sailing

Always looking for improvements, skipper Alain Thebault talks about his plans for a new design to cross the Atlantic in just two-and-half days.

At just 12 knots, the wind lifts up this trimeran just like an airplane and leaves just 2 square meters in the water. This airfoil technology drives the speed and gradual improvements account for new world records like clockwork.

Catamaran Races

Races Around the World

Many cat races are held all over the world, and even around the world.

Cats are a class by themselves as they are often not allowed to participate in regular races, because the would outperform any mono-hull.

Fastest Ship...

Leaving Everything Else in  her Wake

Built in picturesque Hobart, Tasmania, this ferry reports speeds of 58 knots, or 107 km/h. It's 99 meters long and can carry 150 cars and 1000 passengers.

Although they love the speed, interestingly, the designers are the proudest on the efficiency and economy.

Fastest Racers

Bottom Line - Multihull

The fastest racing boats are weird looking multihulls where the design is adopted to create stability in, literally, a sea of chaos.
