The Benefits of Water

Step 1: Primordial Soup

A long, long time ago, there once was a huge rock that was black, lonely, mostly dark, and very lifeless.  And, like most rocks do, it could have stayed nameless. Then again, it could well have been that those very rocky roots were the origin of life. At the time, this rock was very hot and was made up of many smaller rocks, other stones and granite, which, in turn, were made up of minerals and other chemical elements.
Fortunately, water arrived on the scene and served as a catalyst for chemical processes, to form a primordial soup and change everything.
Water was and still is the single most important ingredient for life.

Step 2: Essence of Life

Even now, water is essential to sustain life with our body consisting of water for about 60% and our brains for a whopping 75%.

  • Water carries nutrients to all cells in our body and oxygen to our brain
  • Water allows the body to absorb and assimilate minerals, vitamins, amino acids, glucose and other substances
  • Water flushes out toxins and waste
  • Water helps to regulate body temperature
  • Water acts as a lubricant for joints and muscles

Step 3: Blue Mind

The latest research indicates that water exudes some qualities that benefit our psychological and mental state of mind. In his book, Blue Mind, marine biologist, Wallace J. Nichols, PhD, explains it is no coincidence that we are drawn to the sea for its cognitive and emotional benefits. Water simply washes away stress, the no. 1 cause of disease. Being near water puts us in an almost meditative state by flushing the brain with dopamine, serotonin, and oxytosin and lowering cortisol.
In addition, the color blue has neurological benefits as it helps us focus.

As a public health issue. water therapy is now a new tool in staying sane in an insane world.

Step 4: Conservation of Water

Catamaranists on the whole are adament that the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, the seas and all marine resources is they key to sustainable development.

Healthy oceans and seas are essential to our existence. They cover 70 percent of our planet and we rely on them for food, energy and water. Yet, we have managed to do tremendous damage to these precious resources. We must protect them by eliminating pollution and overfishing and immediately start to responsibly manage and protect all marine life around the world.
