Those Who Can't, Teach...

Ummmm, Not Quite.. No, This is the Real Deal...

This blog is about the boat Adina and her voyage around the world.

I can really recommend this blog because the writing is good and it gives a realistic picture of what cruising is all about. It is too bad that these vogues were on a regular boat, not on a catamaran. But, hey, it can't be perfect all of the time...

Here goes:

This article is about re-enacting a historic event

This is an article about a sailing adventure on the Søren Larsen. the writer describes his berth as very small. Several times, he refers to all the movements of the boat, including rolling, pitching, and yawing and how he can sometimes barely hold on and he describes the 'gallows' as supports because otherwise you may lose your balance and get smacked into a wall or even overboard. In other words, these 'romantic' antique boats were outright dangerous and many sailors died in the 'good old days'.

Fortunately, we now have well designed Catamarans, with a minimum of rolling, pitching, hobby-horsing, and yawing.
The article further talks about the doldrums and the need for an engine and the noise it makes, noting it doesn't bother him. On the other hand, how would you feel about electric motors and their almost complete absence of noise and their total absence of fumes?
